Tokyo UFO Video Is Interesting 2012
October 2, 2012 on 2:23 pm | In Close Encounter Of The First Kind, Flying Saucers, MOVIES, NEWS, Science, UFO PICTURES, UFO VIDEOS, Unidentified Flying Object, YouTube | No CommentsCLICK HERE TO READ THE STORY OF A UFO VIDEO OVER TOKYO, JAPAN
Now here’s an interesting video from Tokyo, Japan.
What makes this video of interest is that it was taken during daylight hours by someone. The story accompanying the video says that the person who took the video hasn’t come forward yet but that could change.
With any UFO video taken nowadays there are several factors that we need to take into account. First is if the video is authentic and not some special effect easily achieved with a number of state-of-the-art computer software. Secondly, are there any other videos and pictures taken by people from different vantage points? Will those UFO videos or pictures help us to glean more information?
My first advice to any UFO story is “Do not get excited”. This avoids jumping to conclusions and badly written copy. For example in this story the UFO is referred to as a “spaceship”. There’s no evidence it is a spaceship as it’s clearly seen in the air. At best it’s an unidentified flying object aka UFO. That’s all UFO means however mainstream media lacks so much hatting regarding UFOs that they get sloppy and generalize thus compromising the scientific method which should be applied to UFO reports.
We’ll have to wait for further analysis of this UFO video to see what shakes from this tree.
If this video passes muster then it’s just one of umpteen hundreds of thousands of UFO videos that can then be categorized for further investigation. If not, the investigative process to determine it’s veracity will help others who investigate UFOs.

UFO Disclosure Meeting Turned Out To Be Just What I Predicted
September 29, 2012 on 2:11 am | In extraterrestrial, Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, UFOlogy, UFOs, Unidentified Flying Object | 8 CommentsAs I had written earlier that the vaunted meeting of military officials at the National Atomic Testing Museum with the lecture entitled “Military UFOs: Secrets Revealed” wouldn’t turn up anything new.
Even though Lt. Col. Robert Friend, a real American WWII hero and one of the legendary Tuskegee Airman and Project Blue Book head did come forward to say that UFOs are real and need to be studied scientifically, it wasn’t anything new. We the people already knew that UFOs are real but the explanations as to the origins of UFOs including the ETH or Extraterrestrial Hypothesis had not been honorably addressed by our government for almost 70 years.
At first the government came clean and even proposed the ETH but then backpeddled in the early ’50s and as more people came forward with their own reports the attacks on character, illegal incarceration in psychiatric hospitals, retribution, and worse kept on well into the mid 1990s. The internet allowed the average person to get information that was kept from them by government and industry. We had to get our own answers and still the U.S. Government and it’s clandestine groups continued to lie, undermine and stonewall.
Anyone who has kept on top of the UFO phenom can tell you about the monumental tasks by such people as the late Congressman Steven Schiff and Harvard professor John E. Mack in getting to the bottom of this phenom. Congressman Schiff had to get the GAO ( General Accounting Office ) to force the Pentagon to give up an explanation into the Roswell Incident only to find out for some strange reason the files from that time period were illegally destroyed yet the Pentagon hadn’t taken the time to inform the American People who the files belonged to. Dr. Mack who was persecuted by Harvard University had to fight to keep his tenure as head of their psychiatric division because his official medical conclusion was that roughly people who experienced UFO abductions weren’t pathological but that we needed to study the phenom more. That pissed off the mainstream psychiatric community that makes a fortune pushing dangerous mind altering drugs. If you notice, Harvard didn’t go after these dope pushers who have been destroying lives but instead go after their head, tenured professor because he took a look at a phenomenon that others were too cowardly to confront.
Hence this new panel of military officials including our friend Nick Pope from the UK who investigated UFOs for the British Government and realized there was something more to the UFO issue. He then went on his own to investigate further and has helped in a major way to get disclosure.
When this panel was announced I felt a little skepticism because in all honesty we’ve had enough panels and data. As a matter of fact we have so much evidence it’s at the point of overwhelm. We have so many eyewitness reports and more coming in daily thanks to the web. With thousands of online radio programs that also have on the air broadcasting, the subject of UFOs is one of global proportions. We have untold numbers of videos and pictures and so far the material evidence doesn’t say “extraterrestrial” but then again where would you send such materials? Lab costs are expensive and security too.
The average UFOlogist isn’t well funded so we had to rely on basic scientific and journalistic methods and that’s done quite well. Since we UFOlogists in the U.S. cannot expect any official government assistance in this matter we need to look at what the public sector has acquired and go with that. Some elitists out there look down their noses on what the public has acquired but in all honesty the public UFOlogists have done the courageous job that the paid government officials have grossly failed to do.
It may not be rocket science but it has something mainstream science really needs and that’s called backbone.
This panel covered material most UFOlogists and aficionados already knew. To call on the U.S. government to now hold scientific research doesn’t make any sense. They’ve not cooperated in almost 60 years so why would we pay them to lie and stonewall again?
We don’t need them, and besides, it’s too late.
Too late for what? Well let’s use some simple logic here. The exotic occupants of these UFOs who experiment on people and animals, I didn’t say extraterrestrial mind you, have exhibited technologies far in advance of what the conventional technologies the public is aware of and the military won’t acknowledge as possessing. Such beings obviously have a grasp on science we’re nowhere near comprehending. If they’ve been abducting people and studying us and our technologies then they’re even farther than we can imagine. They’ve probably already got the info they wanted while our governments sat around on their hands. What would a new investigation glean? That we should have acted when we had the chance and informed the public when we should have instead of having allowed the atrocities against our freedoms.
Too late Lt. Col. Friend. The so called aliens or whatever have won.
In essence we need to shut down any attempts to deal with the U.S. government regarding UFOs. At this point the people and professionals that have risked their careers and lives to have brought us the valuable data we have today should be acknowledged for their bravery. The entire issue is done. Our science may not be up to finding all the explanations to UFOs but so far we know that there are advanced aircraft, sea craft, spacecraft, strange and exotic beings and technologies that have been part of the human landscape for as far as recorded history.
Right now the only thing we can do regarding this phenomenon is to just gather basic data and not give in to unfounded stories. Any claims of any messages from these beings regarding political and social issues should be tossed to the side unless they feel like coming forward and appearing on the evening news.
We should really pay attention to this part of UFOlogy. To keep the fringe element that grabs any tidbit and turns it into some sensational nonsense that causes undo alarm and menace. We have enough problems in this field of research but we shouldn’t be so condescending to those who take the data and run wild. It’s a human thing to do so. What we need to do is stand up when these people or organizations raise their heads that extraterrestrials gave them messages to give to mankind and tell them to prove it or sit down and chill out.
The intelligences behind these abductions and frightening events need to put up or shut up. No more mystery messages as they’re about a dime a dozen. The truth may come out that the ETH cannot be proven which would upset the “there has to be aliens” crowd. If it is proven then those who have unsubstantiated fears of such might exhibit psychotic breaks that would fill the hospital beds from one end of the planet to another.
Finally, the best advice I would have liked the panel to have said is that UFOs are a subject that requires clear thinking and responsible research done by the public and not the government.

UPCOMING: TWO BREAKING UFO STORIES!
August 6, 2012 on 5:10 pm | In Close Encounter Of The First Kind, Close Encounter Of The Second Kind, Close Encounter Of The Third Kind, extraterrestrial, Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, UFOlogy, UFOs | No CommentsSit back readers. I was going to bow out of this UFO stuff because of various reasons but as soon as you think you’re out, they pull you back in.
That’s a reference to the line delivered by Academy Award winning actor Al Pacino in the movie “The Godfather Part III”.
First of all, I’m a researcher. I worked in the mainstream news industry for many years for the Gannet News Service, the biggest in the country. I was stationed in the Hudson Valley at one of the oldest newspapers in the country. We had so many UFO reports it was at times overwhelming. Often the sightings were dismissed as people flying light aircraft and in particular from one club. I know the reporter who covered that story and the police officer who reported it. As you can tell, just one reporter and one police officer doesn’t solve a case and both of them were covering up I can tell you personally.
On to the breaking stories.
I’ve got two witnesses. One the victim of an attack by an actual saucer and the other reports the story of her father and uncle, both WWII heroes who actually were part of a military strike force whose mission it was to hunt and engage in combat with flying saucers and other UFOs.
That’s right, there was and still is an active branch or two of our government, hidden from the public that deals with UFOs after years of the military and government lying to us about them. What’s better is they government can’t cover this story up nor erase the information and people because the people involved went on to great public service and popularity. The government can’t say these people didn’t exist or weren’t at such and such a base or didn’t engage in such actions because there are 100s of thousands of documents to back the story up including news and radio archives. How this slipped past the other UFOlogists is understandable and normally I would forward such data to the real UFOLogists but there’s been a conflict. That I won’t get into as I too hate the suspensfull bs you get with some UFO reports.
Anyhow, this witness tells of the exploits of her father and uncle whom I myself read about growing up. I had no idea they were heavily involved in UFO issues but her story is so solid, backed up by so much overwhelming data that she couldn’t be ignored. She went into detail about what her father and uncle did, both top pilots mind you and their exploits. After both men left the military to take up civilian careers they went on to greater notoriety in the areas of public service that all Americans can be proud of.
This story ends the debate of whether or not the U.S. has been covering up UFO data from that time period and that some UFOs were hostile. There’s only one missing piece of info that we’re digging up now. It may validate the supposed Majestic Twelve documents. I didn’t say invalidate them, I said validate Majestic Twelve. I have a love/hate relationship with the Majestic Twelve issue because at first it didn’t seem solid however four people on the committee were people who were from the Hudson Valley or lived there. That was quite a shock let me tell you. The witness is even willing to come forward and tell her tale and I’m working out the details.
Now, for a more frightening incident.
This witness comes from the Hudson Valley. A talented scientist in her own right and from a noted talented family. She tells a tale of an attack by a saucer in broad daylight that happened in the late 1970s.
According to the witness she was outside of a store in Wallkill, NY on a bright sunny day when she suddenly looked up and saw a daylight disc. It was hovering above the store across the street and she reports that she could see beings inside. The other persons, several, were in the vicinity but hadn’t looked up to see this craft. She states that when the beings inside noticed that she had detected them they turned angry. She says that is the impression she got from them. At that moment she was hit with some sort of light beam that literally knocked her over a railing and down a hill. The other people in the vicinity heard and saw her tumble over the railing and they rushed to retrieve and help her.
She was stunned pretty good and hadn’t the where-with-all to start asking her rescuers if they had seen a UFO. Nor does she report any missing time but then we’re working on that. Her report is important because it was during daylight hours and like the famous Travis Walton case she was rendered unconscious similar to his account regarding a beam from a saucer shaped ship. There are other accounts of such beam technologies but her account happens around the same time or just before Walton’s.
We’ll see where these two reports go after further examination. I’ll have a more lengthy interview with these two witnesses to present further data. If possible we might be able to get other witnesses to come forward.
Best,
Greg

President Obama’s White House Issues Report On UFOs…No ETs To Phone Home
November 7, 2011 on 10:05 am | In Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, Roswell, Science, UFO Books, UFOlogy, UFOs, Unidentified Flying Object | No CommentsAs part of his policy on transparency during his administration, the White House under President Obama has actually responded rather swiftly to inquiries regarding UFO and extraterrestrial questions posed by thousands who petitioned for answers.
It was Phil Larson of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy who explained on the White House website that,
“The U.S. government has no evidence that an life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race,” he continued with, “In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.”
Well, in effect he’s telling what he’s told to tell. How the White House did such a thorough investigation so fast is astounding to anyone who has done the boots on the ground research in UFOlogy. There’s well over 60 years of extensive data that appears contrary to the White House findings. It’s obvious the President and his administration don’t want to get anywhere near anything UFO related. It’s still a hotbed issue that for some reason has more security and evasiveness for something that isn’t supposed to exist.
Any UFOlogist worth their email address can tell you the U.S. has lied through its teeth for decades regarding UFOs. The big question is why? The latest statement from the White House says there has been no coverup regarding UFOs but the solid irrefutable proof has been published for decades. Even some of America’s top officials have been listed on record as confirming the coverups. To have the White House tell the public the opposite while under this new administration of Barack Obama’s that promised transparency to issue these statements is just downright disappointing on a level that is laughable.
It shows that either the White House researchers are lazy, sloppy, incompetent, or just outright lying or misinformed. Even on that last point of being misinformed it sends out a signal of duplicity by other powers to whom the public’s right to know isn’t a priority anymore.
Back in the day when UFOs or Flying Saucers as they were first called during the late 1940s first appeared, the U.S. was very upfront about the matter and proposed the first theories that the saucers were of interplanetary origin. Their first scientific reports stated that the saucers were not only of interplanetary origin but weren’t a threat to national security.
That was until the Roswell Incident of July, 1947.
Suddenly the gameplay changed. Now Flying Saucers and UFOs were an issue to sweep under the rug. Several secret and above board agencies were dispatched to investigate the phenomenon and soon the CIA was formed later that year. The first director of the CIA was Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter. Mind you he was the FIRST director of the agency. He knew more about UFOs along with a few other officials than anyone else. Yet almost 11 years later, after a decade of sightings and incidents that even had UFOs fly over the White House twice or three times during 1951, the same Admiral Hillenkoetter wrote a letter to Congress that was published in the NY Times where he berates the U.S. for it’s new secrecy policy about UFOs. It was Hillenkoetter along with former Capt. Edward J. Ruppelt of the early UFO government studies such as Project Grudge and Project Blue Book and retired Air Force Maj. Donald Keyhoe the groundbreaker in UFO research and disclosure who opened the public’s eyes to what officially had been going on.
They all didn’t meet eye to eye but their intent was honorable and their research above respectable.
Hillenkoetter’s letter as well as tens of thousands of released documents from the U.S. and other countries shows without a doubt that UFOs are more than just figments of the imagination. Surely some accounts are but for the White House researchers to dish out a negatory in regards to the petitions, especially in the areas of a coverup are just downright unprofessional at the least.
One wonders, if the Obama Administration with all its rhetoric about being for the people are willing to play the UFO secrecy and avoidance game then that says more about their fears and the fact that the American public must always use their own resources to find answers since their government will not.

Interesting changes going on in UFOlogy
September 20, 2011 on 3:42 am | In Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, Social Networking, UFOlogy, UFOs | No CommentsOkay gang I’m still here.
I’ve been doing some interviews and lots of research regarding UFOs in general and of course the Hudson Valley UFOs.
Thanks to the various social media venues I’ve been able to catch up to witnesses to a number of UFO events. In addition
new facts have come to play and many insights into the procedures behind the skeptics and debunkers have been using for over fifty years. As I’d mentioned before, in the beginning of the UFO or then called the Flying Saucer phenomenon, the U.S. government was very open and they and their top scientists openly discussed the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis. This was carried on well into the early to mid 1950′s when something terribly went wrong.
We know for a fact that the higher ups in the Air Force suddenly turned tail and set up procedures and protocols to debunk UFOs and ridicule and attack citizens and military in regard to the issue. One damning piece of evidence came from none other than the first Director of the CIA, Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter whose job it was to investigate UFOs. That’s right, one of the greatest heroes of WWII was the boss in charge of finding out about UFOs along with other such notable historic figures. However, by the end of the 1950′s, Admiral Hillenkoetter had a falling out with the U.S. Government and he sent an official message to Congress itself exposing the entire UFO conspiracy. This message was then leaked to the New York Times who published it but buried it inside their newspaper.
That’s the official real deal. Admiral Hillenkoetter then helped found NICAP the infamous UFO groups consisting of many top scietists, scholars, and other researchers. This all happened just a few years before one of the most astounding events in human history, the abduction story of Barney and Betty Hill which was published in the best selling book “Interrupted Journey” and later made into a movie.
So I go back to the 1950s because when things get out of hand in UFOlogy it’s always best to go back to the basics to make sure we keep our heads on straight.

THE BAMBOO SAUCER
August 25, 2011 on 4:41 am | In , CHINA, Exobiology, extraterrestrial, Flying Saucers, MOVIES, space alien, UFO VIDEOS, UFOs | No CommentsOne of my favorite science fiction movies featuring the UFO issue is 1968′s “The Bamboo Saucer”.
It’s by no means a cinematic masterpiece but it contains issues regarding the theories and relationships regarding UFOs that surprised many who are knowledgeable about the subject.
To not give too much away, the story revolves around a pilot who is chastised for reporting a UFO sighting. He spends much of his time trying to prove his sighting and when something goes wrong, I won’t say what, he’s then recruited to a team of a congressman to venture into Mainland China to recover a flying saucer. Things go from bad to worse and the ending is a real thrill ride. It’s not a “happy camper” sort of story although there are moments of humor. You’ll see several favorite character actors of the day you wouldn’t expect to see in an espionage drama which the movie turns out to be.
What’s of major interest is what goes on with the flying saucer and I’ll leave it there.
This movie is in my top five of UFO movies of the classic era. There are alien invasion movies but there are those UFO/Flying Saucer movies that give a lot of thoughtful information and real data. Of careful note, pay attention to the theories regarding the propulsion system of the flying saucer. I saw “The Bamboo Saucer” late one night on CBS channel 2 way back in the early 1980s when I lived in the Hudson Valley area. I found this movie delightful, funny, very tense at times, well grounded in human and political issues such as the trust problems we had during the Cold War.
So enjoy “The Bamboo Saucer” and spot the actors who are the performers that the general public around the world are quite familiar with and still endure.

UFO Books You Need To Buy
June 17, 2011 on 1:06 am | In Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, Science, UFO Books, UFO CRASHES, UFO PICTURES, UFO VIDEOS, UFOlogy, UFOs, Unidentified Flying Object | 2 CommentsHey gang,
Nowdays there are so many UFO books and UFO documentaries as well as UFO news stories that you may not know where to turn to in order to get that pertinent information that you need. In this case it’s time for me to put up a bibliography of sorts so that you’ll know what UFO books to buy.
We’re now 60 years plus into this phenomenon and there have been numerous books and some are exceptional and some just nonsense. There is so much UFO information in the world now that it would take you decades to study it all. Fortunately there are some UFO books you can buy that will get you the basic reference material so that you’ll know the history of Unidentified Flying Objects and be able to hold your own in any debate as well as have a foundation on which to stand as you do your own research.
The history of UFOs is important because it gives you a timeline of events when the subject hit the mainstream. It shows you how people, and government reacted to the events and how they tried to tackle the problem. The main problem wasn’t that people were seeing UFOs, the problem was who or what was behind them.
To this day the government says one thing, often in sharp contrast to what government originally assessed. Knowing the sequence of events regarding their mysterious change in opinions and conclusions shows a solid modus operandi and leads to a clear assessment as to what government’s agenda is in regard to the subject. Studying about how civilian observers and researchers approached the problem and gathered their own conclusions paints a pretty solid picture of their endeavors.
Often you’ll hear people, especially the skeptics, debunkers, and arrogant UFOLogists talk about the “scientific model” in researching UFOs. One claims the other doesn’t apply it but don’t realize it’s not that old a model. Only been around over a hundred years. The bottom line is in being objective and most importantly having at the ready the basic reference material you need to make better assessments of what you’ve encountered, what evidence has been gathered, and how to interpret it without going off into scientific-wild-ass-guesses (s.w.a.g.), nor delusional-unscientific-mythological-based-ad hominem-sorta-scientific, assumptions. (d.u.m.b.a.s.s.)
There are some UFOlogists I don’t get along with personality-wise. Basically they’re very arrogant and condescending, some are blatant racists and sexists, and some are just downright unpleasant people to be around. However, their research skills may have gleaned information that others were unable to gather or too afraid to. I can recommend their works, not inviting them to dinner or playing with your kids and small household pets.
On the other hand there are some UFOlogists that are the nicest people I’ve ever met but couldn’t investigate the reason they got up in the morning. Their research suffers and although I may like them I couldn’t in all fairness recommend their books.
So with that being said, give me a while to whip up some books that you can use that covers the phenomenon and the related fields of study. I’ll post it here directly.

Yawn! Another bogus supposed leaked Roswell zeta reticuli alien video.
May 8, 2011 on 9:12 am | In Exobiology, extraterrestrial, Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, Roswell, space alien, UFO CRASHES, UFO PICTURES, UFO VIDEOS, UFOlogy, YouTube | No CommentsHere you have another video that has been making the rounds on the internet purportedly showing a space alien from Zeta Reticuli star system. This black and white video shows the object being measured for height. Details of the subjects head and body are shown.
I for one am calling it bogus due to several factors. Some so glaring that I don’t have the time to spend on them. Just ask yourselves the relevant questions while looking at it as in why would a video make the sound of a film projector?
You can do some amazing things with computers nowadays regarding special effects imagery and as long as these videos keep being churned out every week it seems, you’ll have that cottage industry of bogus UFO and alien videos and pics streaming.
Nowadays we can’t go by pics and videos. We need physical evidence of unquestionable validity. We’ve theorized UFOlogy to within an inch of it’s life and speculated beyond what’s necessary. It’s more than past the time to do real lab work. You will never, ever get a disclosure from any government on Earth regarding this subject so don’t hold your breath. The only thing we have is good old fashioned scientific research done in a laboratory.

Salt Lake Tribune Uncovers FBI UFO Files
April 10, 2011 on 1:52 am | In Close Encounter Of The First Kind, Flying Saucers, History, NEWS, Roswell, Science | 3 CommentsNow here’s some homework at work.
The Salt Lake Tribune’s website focusing on Utah news has a story by reporter Lee Davidson that shows some solid, real journalism homework done.
Davidson’s article entitled “New FBI ‘vault’ discusses Utah UFOs, other secrets” focuses on the discovery using the online FBI documents archive, the archive open to the public that is, of documents pertaining to UFO incidents in Utah and more.
The UFO info should be of interest to the public and UFO researchers as they deal with official documents that one can peruse and use for reference material. some of the documents contain information long known to the UFO community but there is some new data also of interest.
It shows that the FBI was at a quandary in the early days of the UFO/Flying Saucer mystery and that then director J. Edgar Hoover was thirsty for anything regarding UFOs/Flying Saucers. UFO historians will point to previously uncovered documents that suggest several things in regard to the FBI’s involvement with UFOs/Flying Saucers and sometimes the conflict that departments had with one another such as the Army not giving information to the FBI and vice versa.
There is even an interesting paragraph regarding the famous UFO incident at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Some may find what the FBI was told by a source to be shocking if they haven’t heard or read the data before. In this case it’s data that was collected by the FBI and put into an official document.

1953 Movie: Invaders From Mars
March 27, 2011 on 4:20 pm | In ALIEN ABDUCTION, CELEBRITIES, extraterrestrial, Flying Saucers, History, space alien, UFO PICTURES, UFO VIDEOS, UFOlogy, Unidentified Flying Object | No Comments1953 Movie: Invaders From Mars
Last night I indulged myself by watching one of my favorite classic UFO movies called “Invaders From Mars”. It was produced in 1953, directed by William Cameron Menzies, written by Richard Blake, and starred Helena Carter, Arthur Franz, and Jimmy Hunt.
This movie, Invaders From Mars is a favorite amongst friends and family as it would be re-released in theaters while I was growing up and at the drive-ins. The television commercials were eerie as the trailer had all the elements that would make a kid want to make a bee line to the movies. It broke a lot of ground in the Martian invasion, UFO and flying saucer genres.
It featured then, what many today call the alien abduction phenomenon almost 15 years before the famous Barney and Betty Hill story that appeared in LOOK magazine in the early 1960s. The story had all the elements, people kidnapped, implants put into people’s brains, government conspiracies and the coolest, eeriest looking alien overlord type that still stands up today regarding make up and special effects. Invaders From Mars was way ahead of it’s time and on a modest filming budget still has the chills and surrealism the film achieved even in today’s high definition age.
Great plot, lots of heroic action and focuses on the story of a young boy who sees a flying saucer land in a field near his home. Soon, people begin disappearing and return with strange behavior and the boy, David, notices they’ve got a mark on the backs of their necks. David ends up at the police station after a neighborhood girl is abducted and sets fire to her home. David’s father and the girl’s father both work on a top secret project at a nearby base as do several of the people in the town. At the station David’s wild story of flying saucers and strange people puts him in a cell where a beautiful health care worker played by Helena Carter arrives and takes pity on the boy. David’s parents arrive, now under the power of the Martians to retrieve him but Dr. Pat Blake (Carter), refuses. Soon the police chief and some military brass are under the Martian’s control and it’s up to Dr. Carter, David, and Dr. Stuart Kelston, played by Arthur Franz, to race against time to alert the authorities and thwart the Martians. Yes, Invaders From Mars has it all except the mush.
If you haven’t seen Invaders From Mars you’re missing out. Yes there was a remake in the 1980s which was faithful to the original but the 1953 classic can’t be touched. I bring this up because I’ve seen several edited versions of this movie over the years and didn’t realize that it had been altered several times. There are several with different endings, one that was way ahead of the Twilight Zone and EC Comics ironic-twist-at-the-end formula, but in the version I saw last night on Netflix, there was an added scene I had not known existed and it blew me away.
In this version of Invaders From Mars, the filmmakers added footage to explain the area of UFOlogy and it was quite alarming. The sequence takes place amongst the three principal characters of David, Dr. Blake, and Dr. Kelston who runs the local observatory where Jimmy, an amateur astronomer likes to frequent. Kelston it turns out had been studying UFOs and goes into a lengthy, quite accurate and broad explanation about UFOs that looks like one of those 1950s educational films. I mean he really goes into depth to the point he actually makes a convincing argument for the alien visitation or extraterrestrial hypothesis. He covers the infamous “Lubbock Lights” story with photos, the case of Capt. Thomas F. Mantell of the Kentucky Air National Guard whose plane crashed while in pursuit of a UFO in January 1948. A highly publicized case at the time as theories of “death rays” were tossed about as an explanation to Mantell’s death. Not all the data in this particular scene is accurate science and has some speculation that by today’s standards of UFOlogy might not hold up but it’s amazing that the producers went to such lengths with this particular segment. In addition, there is something in this movie that most miss. At no time do the “invaders” state that they’re from outer space! It’s the military and the scientists who assume so. In a scene where the invaders are asked about their leader, the creepy bodiless octopus head in a bubble, the invaders state that their leader is the epitome of human evolution. Note, didn’t say “Martian”. Get the picture yet?
That added footage came after the main story had been filmed and one can see that the character David had grown a bit during the time period. This scene is just the extra punch that makes Invaders From Mars that must-have UFO movie alongside such classics as “Unidentified Flying Objects: The True Story Of Flying Saucers”, “The Bamboo Saucer”, and “Earth vs The Flying Saucers” featuring the great Ray Harryhausen’s special effects.
So hunt around for the version of Invaders From Mars that I’m mentioning which according to the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) which you can read by clicking HERE. I won’t go into the endings of the three versions, American, European, and re-edited American versions as the endings are a surprise. So do yourself a treat and hunt for all three versions and enjoy a classic in UFO culture that stands the test of time.

Here you can see a tribute to the movie and it’s eerie musical score. One of the scariest music scores as it’s deceptive. It starts off in some form of military march but soon evolves into a melody that suggests hidden mystery and a haunting otherworldly menace.
